It gives us great pleasure to head to Dingle, Co Kerry on December 1 and 2 for the Banter Salon at Foxy John’s<\/strong> as part of this year’s Other Voices<\/a> festival in the town. It’s our first time in Dingle, our first time at Other Voices and our first time to host a Banter in a hardware shop<\/a>. Yes, it has been a year for unusual Banter venues<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\nThe Banter Salon arrives at Foxy John\u2019s for Other Voices<\/em><\/p>\n

The Banter Salon at Foxy John\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0will feature a wide variety of discussions and conversations over the weekend including:<\/p>\n

– Guardian media writer\u00a0Lisa O\u2019Carroll<\/a>\u00a0on a wild year for the media business<\/p>\n

–\u00a0Jerry Kennelly<\/a>\u00a0(Stockbyte<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Tweak<\/a>) and\u00a0Kieran Murphy<\/a>\u00a0(Murphy\u2019s Ice Cream<\/a>) discussing where the spark to create something innovative come from<\/p>\n

– Historian and author\u00a0Diarmaid Ferriter<\/a>\u00a0on a decade of centenaries and if your ancestors realised what was coming down the line in 1912<\/p>\n

– From the Silver Threads of Hope<\/a> anthology of new Irish short stories,\u00a0Peter Murphy<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Siobhan Mannion<\/a>\u00a0read from their work and are joined by anthology editor\u00a0Sinead Gleeson<\/a>\u00a0for a discussion about Irish literature in post-boom Ireland<\/p>\n

The Observer’s<\/a> editor, John Mulholland<\/a>, on the view from the editor’s desk in 2012.<\/p>\n

– Poet\u00a0Paul Muldoon<\/a>\u00a0on his new book\u00a0The Word On The Street: Rock Lyrics<\/a>\u00a0and<\/p>\n

–\u00a0Dermot McLaughlin<\/a>, director of\u00a0Derry City Of Culture 2013<\/a>, on what\u2019s ahead for the Maiden City in 2013.<\/p>\n

There will also be performances at the Banter Salon on both days from various acts playing at Other Voices.<\/p>\n
