We’re very happy to be returing to Bloom<\/a>, the biggest festival in Ireland, which rakes place in\u00a0Dublin’s Phoenix Park next weekend. Bloom kicks off on Thursday and Banter will be in situ in our tent in the Food Village on\u00a0Saturday, Sunday and Monday with a\u00a0clatter of colourful and fascinating characters for you to meet.\u00a0Here’s the line-up.<\/p>\n

SATURDAY JUNE 03<\/strong><\/p>\n

11am \u2013 Nutrionist in the house<\/strong><\/p>\n

Daniel Davey<\/a> is a performance nutrionist with the Dublin senior footballers and Leinster rugby players, a presenter of TV3\u2019s Doctor In the House<\/a> and co-founder of online nutrition site FoodFlicker<\/a>. At Banter, Daniel talks about the role of nutrition on health and well-being and lessons to be learned from the fields of play.<\/p>\n

Bloom would not exist with Bord Bia<\/a>. The\u00a0new head of the state agency promoting Irish food, drink and horticulture is Tara McCarthy<\/a>\u00a0and she joins us to talk about her job.<\/p>\n

SUNDAY JUNE 04<\/strong><\/p>\n

11am \u2013 Food on the edge<\/strong><\/p>\n

Besides running such great Galway restaurants as Aniar<\/a> and Cava<\/a>, JP McMahon<\/a> is also behind the annual boutique food gathering Food On the Edge<\/a>. He\u2019ll be at Banter to discuss his life, career, restuarants and the growth of Food On the Edge.<\/p>\n

Noon \u2013 The Irish astronaut<\/strong><\/p>\n

Niamh Shaw<\/a> is an Irish scientist, engineer, performer and artist who also plans to get into space in the next few years. She joins us at Bloom to talk about work around creating interest in science, the need for more youngsters to take up\u00a0STEM subjects and her very own space program.<\/p>\n

Cathy Davey<\/a> may be best known as the singer-songwriter behind a string of hits and albums, but she\u2019s here to talk about My Lovely Horse Rescue<\/a>. Since 2012, Cathy\u2019s charity has helped to recue, retrain and rehome unwanted, abandoned or surrendered horses, donkeys and ponies in Ireland.<\/p>\n

Why do people love their cats and dogs so much? We\u2019re joined by Roz Evans<\/strong>\u00a0from Phibsboro Cat Rescue<\/a> and Catriona Birt<\/strong> from Dogs Trust<\/a> to talk about their four legged friends<\/p>\n

MONDAY JUNE 5<\/strong><\/p>\n

11am \u2013 Gardening for good<\/strong><\/p>\n

More than 50,000 people in Ireland are living with dementia and Elaine Keane<\/strong>, Director of Clinical Services at TLC Nursing Homes<\/a>,\u00a0and Sinead Grennan<\/a>, CEO of Sonas apc<\/a>, talk about how creating\u00a0a garden which would be a peaceful space for them and their families resulted in the\u00a0Bloom Dementia Friendly Garden<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Noon \u2013 Anyone for spuds?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ireland has had a long and illustrious history with the humble potato. Restaurant critic and food writer Catherine Cleary <\/a>talks us through our relationship with the tuber.<\/p>\n
