It\u2019s\u00a0Banter Salon<\/a>\u00a0time again. This time, after hugely entertaining and successful jaunts in\u00a0Dingle<\/a>\u00a0last December and\u00a0Derry<\/a>\u00a0last month, we\u2019re joining our friends at Other Voices for a trip across the Irish Sea to London on Saturday and Sunday April 6 and 7.We\u2019ve a heavyweight list of writers, cultural commentators, artists and thinkers lined up for the weekend in east London including:<\/p>\n

Karl Ove Knausgaard<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 the acclaimed Norwegian author of A Death in the Family and the soon to be published A Man in Love.<\/section>\n

Caoimhin O Raghallaigh\u00a0<\/a>– the Irish fiddle player currently to be found in The Gloaming, whose debut album is due for release in the coming months.<\/p>\n

Ben Watt<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 the man from Buzzin\u2019 Fly, Strange Feeling, Everything But the Girl and dozens of other projects on doing things differently in the music industry and the renewed importance of artist development.<\/p>\n

Photography<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Eva Vermandel<\/a>,\u00a0Rich Gilligan<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Linda Brownlee<\/a>\u00a0on the art of photography and the spark behind innovative and distinctive portraits.<\/p>\n

Morley on Bowie<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Paul Morley<\/a>\u00a0on David Bowie, longevity, pop careers, images, personas and the art of the cultural chameleon.<\/p>\n

The campaigner<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Maeve O\u2019Rourke<\/a>\u00a0from the\u00a0Justice for the Magdalenes<\/a>campaign on civil liberties and human rights<\/p>\n

Clandestino<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Journalist and author\u00a0Peter Culshaw<\/a>\u00a0on his new book about the fascinating life and music of Manu Chao<\/p>\n

Music Tech<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 David Adams<\/a> (SoundCloud<\/a>), \u00a0Stephen O’Reilly <\/a>(Mobile Roadie<\/a>, Topspin<\/a>) and Mark Nagurski<\/a> (CultureTECH<\/a>) on the current state of the music tech field. This panel has been put together by\u00a0our friends at the\u00a0CultureTECH<\/a>\u00a0festival in Derry.<\/p>\n

There will also be performances at the Banter Salon from Shannon Saunders, Luke Sital-Singh and Olivia Chaney<\/p>\n

Shannon Saunders<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/strong>Shannon is an 18-year-old\u00a0songwriter from Swindon. She has been posting videos on Youtube since she was 14 years old\u00a0and has accumulated over 3.3 million views and 22,000 subscribers on her channel. Her debut\u00a0single “Heart Of Blue” reached number 48 on the iTunes chart with no promotion. The video,\u00a0which cost \u00a39 to make, received over 175,00 views on Youtube in its first month.\"0\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Luke Sital-Singh<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Luke has just returned from a very successful trip to\u00a0the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas and he has been touring of late with Villagers and The Staves.\u00a0His new EP “Old Flint” has just gone on release and he will be embarking on a headline tour of the\u00a0UK in April.\"Luke<\/a><\/section>\n

Olivia Chaney<\/strong><\/a><\/section>\n
<\/section>\n
Olivia is a modern English folk singer who has just\u00a0released a new EP, is performing as Joe Boyd’s special guest at the Legacy of Nick Drake event at\u00a0Wilton’s Music Hall on April 2, is guesting with Phronesis at the Queen Elizabeth Hall on April 5\u00a0and is about to embark on a spring tour with Alasdair Roberts.\"l\"<\/a>The Banter Salon will take place upstairs at the\u00a0Zeppelin Shelter<\/a>\u00a0(40 Leman Street, London, Aldgate, E1 8EU), around the corner from the Wilton’s Music Hall<\/a> where\u00a0Stornoway<\/a>,\u00a0Dexys<\/a>,\u00a0Laura Mvula<\/a>,\u00a0John Grant<\/a>,\u00a0Imelda May<\/a>,\u00a0Matthew E White<\/a>\u00a0and others will be performing for Other Voices over the weekend. Doors for the Banter Salon will open each day at 2.30pm and the sessions will run from 3pm to 6pm.
